Emergency & Safety Guide

Parents and Guardians Have a Key Role in Emergency Response

During and following an emergency situation, school and district officials must act quickly and follow established emergency protocols to safeguard students and staff, secure schools, and communicate accurate information in a timely manner. Parents can assist greatly by helping with preparation before the emergency.

Let's Work Together to Keep our Students Safe

Please do your part to keep our students safe. Watch out for pedestrians and bicycles. Expect children to be walking or riding bikes to and from school or their assigned bus stop between the hours of 6am-9am and 1pm-5pm. Obey the speed limits and stay alert. Urge your friends and neighbors to use caution when driving before and after school. We must work together to keep our students safe.

Cyber Safety

A new website is now available to help educate students and their parents about safe uses of the internet and the need for cyber safety. The Florida Association of District School Superintendents has joined Attorney General Bill McCollum in promoting the www.safeflorida.net/safesurf webpage to introduce all school age children the resources available to keep them safer while online. The site includes links to age appropriate websites, including games for elementary students, a place for teens to share their online experiences and information and tips to help parents learn the basic rules of internet safety.
